This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As featured on the Ellen Show and inspiring many across the entire world, my middle school softball program is more than just a team but a family of sisters who encourage and support each other while enduring the struggles of inner-city life. They've shared their story detailing the courageous story of a team overcoming cancer and poverty. Softball has become a way of life, a means to escape the harsh reality of life and simply enjoy being a teen.

Honored by Ellen DeGeneres, the NY Yankees, and NY Mets, my middle school softball program gives girls a reason to fight for their education.

My Project

The 95 Storm girls' softball team practices in a confined space in a shared area within our school gymnasium. We were able to fund for several softball nets that helped serve as a barrier, partitioning an area of the gym that both protects the softball team, as well as others who might be sharing the gymnasium at the time. Other softball nets help with pitching, as well as batting.

However, some nets are extremely lightweight which causes them to slip, fall or move in our gymnasium.

Having sandbags to weigh down the nets will greatly benefit our team and contribute to our potential success on the field.
