My Project

Middle school students are working on developing so many different art and life skills, and when they 'move up' to high school, it is time to celebrate all of their progress! My students have been learning the elements of art and principles of design, as well as the studio habits of mind for creating art. From sixth through eighth grade, they learn how to safely handle various tools including scissors, cutting tools, clay tools, and engraving tools. By eighth grade, they are ready to handle x-acto knives with care.

This project will have eighth grade students planning their own stencil designs, cutting them out with precise fine motor skills, and then spray painting them onto their own cork boards.

These cork boards will act as memory boards for them as they can pin pictures that are meaningful to them. This is a great way to celebrate their accomplishments with more advanced tools and materials. It will be a fun and memorable way to finish their middle school art journey.
