Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about the brain at the end of their 8th grade year before they move onto Living Environment in the 9th grade.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 8th grade scholars are taking their state exams mid-may. After exams, scholars tend to be less motivated to learn and less engaged. Adding this dissection to the end of the school year will help them continue to learn while having fun and exposing them to different aspects of science not normally seen in the curriculum - biology and neurology.
The goal of the dissections is to get the scholars excited about the 9th grade as they will all be moving on to take the Living Environment course which focuses on many biology topics.
Our scholars mostly reside in the Bronx and have interests from theatre, athletics, and even the math olympiad. I'm hoping that this project also sparks an interest in the biological sciences, as they are all more than capable of being curious scientist!
