Our school district is located in southwest Ohio. The district encompasses 144 square miles, a mostly rural area surrounding the city of Oxford. Miami University is located in the district. The total population is nearly 30,000, and we serve just over 3000 students in the district. Cincinnati is located 30 miles south of our community and Dayton is located approximately 45 miles north of our community.
In the 7th-grade we have a total of about 230 students, most of which I would characterize as hungry for education.
Our students come from a host of different backgrounds, and it is a joy to work as a team of teachers to motivate and teach these students. We are strong believers in real-world learning and know that our students will greatly benefit from our plans for the spring field trip.
My Project
Last year, our class trip for Talawanda 7th-graders was to travel to the Columbus Zoo and Cosi. As teachers, we watched as students were begging for more time at exhibits. This year, we would like to repeat the trip to let this new group of students experience the hands-on learning this trip provides.
Your donation will help expose students to Cosi, which offers 32,000 square feet of science and fun!
The exhibits are always changing, offering fun new experiences along with familiar old ones. The two-story high unicycle is always a highlight. We hope to sit in the giant screen theater again this year to watch one of the revolving movies, which could cover a host of themes.
Please help us fund our journey at the end of the school year.
