This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our scholars have had many different school experiences over the last three years: fully in-person learning, hybrid learning, fully virtual learning, or some combination of all three. They have met challenges with resilience, flexibility, and grace, but part of what this means is that there are many different academic ability levels present in my classroom. Some scholars may have goals for counting and number sense, while others are working on fact fluency or beginning algebra. It is critically important that our math activities are designed to support every scholar, so that every scholar has activities with the right level of challenge for them.

With this project, I would like to restock our math 'centers' game shelf with some new supplies, including 7-piece sets of polyhedral dice.

This will allow us to refresh supplies which are well-loved and create new games for scholars to practice even more math concepts. Our scholars have had great success with mathematics when using fun games to reinforce and practice tough concepts, and we are so excited to be able to develop even more math games with these dice. With these simple dice, the potential for math centers is practically unlimited! With polyhedral dice, for example, scholars might roll dice to create equations, compare values, or draw multiplication arrays. Playing games is a powerful way to practice mathematical concepts.
