My Students
My students attend an elective class in a large and culturally diverse high school. They have a variety of different learning disabilities. One of the major challenges they face in the classroom is maintaining interest and focus on content.
Because of the variety of disabilities and interests, some students struggle to maintain engagement.
However, with the right materials I can structure learning to be geared to individual interests and connect content and learning to real world scenarios, examples, and stories.
My Project
Students need access to materials that makes sense to them in order to engage with content, and explicit instruction in the actions and habits that will help them lead fulfilling lives. Adding the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to the library for our Entrepreneurship classroom will help students access a guide toward success that is tailored to people like them. The material will be broken up into chunks that are manageable for students with disabilities and integrated with the coursework to enhance reinforcement.
With this resource, students will be better equipped to understand themselves, their relationships, and make effective decisions.
