My Students
My students have Language and Learning Disabilities and come from various cultures and backgrounds. My students are creative, exciting and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Last year my students made personalized craft presents for their parents and I was amazed. We have cooperative grouping and they work in pairs all the time but the amount of sharing and teamwork blew my mind. I wanted to see if lightning could strike twice, so for field day we made tye-dye t-shirts.
Again they amazed me.
My least cooperative student began instructing other students and became project manager. It is always makes me proud when they step up and become leaders! I am hoping with the Cricut machine we will be able to do more projects and possibly some school spirit fundraising.
