My students come into my classroom every day with minds full of problems and issues they shouldn't have to deal with at such a young age. Many come from low income families that struggle daily to make ends meet.
My students are unbelievably resilient in the face of some extremely tough challenges.
However, they put on their battle armor daily, ready to do their best to put those challenges behind them. They work hard, knowing that they are in charge of their own destinies. I am proud to be honored with the job of teaching and loving these students every single day.
My Project
My students have a hard time sitting still. (Yes, even as 6th graders!) They enjoy being able to rock and wiggle a little while they learn. Although all kids like to be able to move often, I find that my low income students seem to struggle even more with sitting still.
These wobble/stability seats will allow my students to squirm in a more productive way.
I find that my students learn better when they aren't forced to sit still at a rigid desk. Adding these seats will allow a majority of my students to better focus on the important work we are doing each day.
