Help me give my students good quality supplies that allow them to learn in a cooperative and fun way. The bright sticky notes and fresh dry erase markers and boards get the students excited about learning.
The 6th graders at LAMS are precocious learners! They have so much to learn, but even more to teach. It can be an awkward age where losing baby teeth and going through puberty intersect, but it really is the best and most formative age.
LAMS students are eager to learn and grow in a changing world as they learn to cooperative in diverse teams and respect their mentors and peers.
Lehigh Acres is what is referred to as a "bedroom" community and many parents are working in town to provide for their families.
Some of the supplies selected are for student comfort and safety. Any 6th grader with a runny nose can set you back 14 tissues back per class period, on average! Having a little first aid kit available also helps keep kids in class instead of running to the nurse every time they pick on a scab. The other supplies are conductive to interactive and cooperating learning. Chart paper, sticky notes, dry erase markers and boards so we can do projects like World Cafe, Gallery Walk, Reciprocal Learning Centers, Numbered Heads Together, and other learning games. Good pencils and pens that students will treasure and drop in the hallway? A must!
