My students need sixty copies of the critically acclaimed novel The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas. I would love for each eighth grader to be able to take a copy home to enjoy.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Author Jane Smiley once said the following about books, "Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.” My students enjoy the sight, the sound, and even the smell of a book. They are avid readers who enjoy discussing the underlined meaning of the books they read.
Making connections, reflecting on their experiences, and sharing the best parts of a book with their peers brings life to my seventh and eighth graders.
My Bobcats love to read.
My Project
The books I am requesting will allow my young scholars to take a deep dive into The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. With their own copy, each student will be able to make their connections, annotations, and reflections as they go through the journey with Bruno in this World War Two novel.
Physically turning the pages of their own copy of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas will empower my young scholars to foster their love of reading.
I believe that if each student has their own copy of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas they will enjoy it for years to come.
