This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are highly motivated, highly diverse and highly dedicated to music and school. They love exploring sound and songs through our classes. They respect their equipment and love using the instruments and tools to further their learning.
My students work together in harmony to create harmony.
They explore our culture by singing and dancing to folk songs. They learn history by exploring the composers and their famous musical works. They learn about sound and instrumental technique by playing recorders, xylophones, drums, and ukuleles.
My Project
About 45 of my fifth grade students are at home. They are learning asynchronously from me, and don't have access to the equipment in the music room. The students have been issued technology from the district, but they still don't have equal access to all of the great things we do in Music class.
To give them the ability to participate at home, I want to create personalized Music kits for them to to use.
The instruments and the scarf included in my request would allow them to play along at home with me when we do instrumental or movement activities. The students LOVE these activities, and it's been difficult to give my students the same musical experience that they love with such limited parameters.
