Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from very disadvantaged backgrounds. Some live in shelters and others live in hotels. Only a few actually live in a home with their parents. I want to show them many things that they are not familiar with. They will have opportunities to see the world through technology and reading.
My students are very cheerful and eager to learn.
They attend a public school that offers as much as it can but, due to budget constraints, is limited. They are very inquisitive and ask to be shown so many things that I wish I could. They challenge themselves as well as each other. They are not afraid to ask questions and are always willing to help. In our classroom, we call our community a family. Some of us do not have a family whom we love or love us in return, but in this classroom, we offer as much love, patience and dedication as possible.
My Project
I am requesting a projector so that I will be able to show students pictures and give PowerPoint presentations. I think it is important to do this so they can directly see what it is we are talking about. A printer will be needed do print documents or PowerPoint presentations the students find very memorable.
I also requested dictionaries and comprehension tools because of their limited English proficiencies. I want my students to learn English at a rapid pace, and although I know it can be done, it cannot be done with resources.
This project is of critical importance to us because we desperately desire this ability to incorporate technology into the classroom.
This allows for ample opportunities to view different parts of the world, watch videos that will accommodate visual learners, listen to audio and play games. It will also give the students a sense of pride when they feel like they are given the best type of education possible. This type of environment will increase scores, learning and pride in our community.
