This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in Tucson Az on the South West side in TUSD. They are a part the OMA program that integrates Visual Arts with the classroom curriculum. I strive to give my students new experiences in Visual Arts while re-enforcing what they have learned in the classroom. My students are amazing in their ability to inspire me as much as I inspire them through the Visual Arts experience.
My Project
I am currently working on a 5th Grade legacy project, where students are creating a tile community. Each students are designing a house and object that represent themselves as a part of the community they live in. The tiles will be a mosaic that will come together to represent the Lynn Urquides Community.
This slab roller will help with the quality and speed students can make their tiles.
It is very labor intensive to roll out slabs by hand. I only see my students once a week for 1 hour. So time is always important. Help me get the tools I need to help students create something that will be a part of our school for years to come.
