Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The moment my students walk through my classroom door, they are ready to get to work. I say, "Are you ready to rock?" and they respond with, "Ready to roll!" I expect nothing but the best from them, and I strive to be the best teacher and provide the best classroom environment I can.

My school serves Latino, Polynesian, and African-American students who live in deep poverty.

These are amazing students, full of life and character, who deserve nothing but the best. Most live in unfortunate situations at home; therefore, the classroom must be anything but unfortunate. I strive to make sure my students have all that they need to be successful in their academics.

My Project

The fifth grade leadership team that I lead at my school, often times needs multiple copies of fliers they have drafted by hand with art work and special lettering, immediately, in order to keep their projects rolling. Seeing as the copy machine in the teacher's workroom is often off-limits to students because of fear of misuse and/or it is simply just busy copying general school projects, the fifth grade student leadership could really benefit from having their own laser copy machine to help them make a few copies in real-time, of the work they just created.

Having a mini copy machine at their fingertips, the 5th grade leadership team will be able to print out a few copies of their trademark, handmade fliers to hand out immediately to staff to get their project announced and rolled out to the entire school.

One of the projects the students are currently working on is a Christmas gift drive for the sick children in the hospital. They created a beautiful flier which, unfortunately, did not go out as quickly as it needed to go out because the students couldn't get quick access to the copy machines. All the students need to do is make a copy for each staff member who will in-turn make a full class set for their class. The process would have been much easier and quicker had the students had access to their own copy machine. There are many projects the students desire to work on in the future and having access to real-time copies would help them out a lot. Partner with me and help me give my 5th grade student leadership team access to their very own copy machine.
