My fifth graders are very special to my heart. Not only do I teach to make a difference for my city, but I teach to make a difference in my neighborhood. Many of my students are my neighbors. Bilingual, persistent, creative, strong, and curious are just a few words I would use to describe my students.
We are a Title I school having one hundred percent of the children receiving free breakfast and lunch.
They love coming to school and are excited about learning. Watching them grow academically, physically and emotionally makes it all worth it. They are the future engineers, doctors, politicians, etc. of Oklahoma.
This project would make a cold, winter indoor recess day fun again! We are in need of board games, puzzles and batteries for our fifth grade class. Lately, the children have been dreading recess because our game choice selection is so weak. The few games we currently have in the classroom have too many pieces missing to even play.
Not only will the games improve student collaboration and team work, but they will also assist in student problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
Many of the games in this project were my favorites growing up too. There is nothing better than watching children have fun with their peers while still learning. This is why I included multiple sets of Scrabble! How fun would it be to have a Scrabble tournament at school? Having new games in the class would bring tremendous joy to all of us!
