Do you remember your 5th-grade year? It is a year of transition. Students need to apply and use skills learned in elementary school. This fall I will be teaching 18 energetic and inquisitive 5th graders. As they learn more about reading, language, math, science, social studies, and health, I hope to be able to offer my students choices of how they will learn and to offer more seating and standing options.
Students need movement and choices.
To help my students be active learners, I want to offer seating choices that work for all learners.
My Project
Students enter the room and may choose the best possible way to learn. Some students choose to stand, some kneel, some sit in a regular desk, and some work best where they can wiggle. Students will use the SitWell Adjustable Stools and the Trideer Inflated Stability Wobble Cushions to aid in movement and attention as they work. Students may use the cushions at the floor table, on a chair or standing. The wobble stools are adjustable so more students are able to use them at varying heights. Students learn quickly to make the best decision to be productive.
