This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students. They are an amazing group of kids who come from all walks of life. I have students in my class who are from all over the world and English is the second language they have learned. I also have students who are on 504 plans and Individualized Education Plans, who need accommodations inside and outside of the classroom. Over the last few weeks, we have created a great classroom family that works together every day to learn and grow. I cannot wait to see what these students accomplish this school year.

This project for various beads, an iron, idea book and more, would greatly benefit my class because it will give them the tools and supplies they need to be creative and imaginative while expressing themselves.

This school year, my students showed a lot of interest in arts and crafts activities. We spend most of our school day learning new skills and concepts that connect back to our Common Core Standards. However, I do think that it is important that students have the opportunity to be creative because it has lots of long and short-term benefits. These types of activities are so important in the classroom because they engage children's sense of sight and touch. They also develop their fine motor skills, boost visual processing abilities, and hand-eye coordination. Arts and crafts activities can also help students improve their focus and increase their working memory. These activities also teach students teamwork and communication skills. I have also seen a huge increase in confidence and self-esteem when students complete these projects. All of these

areas have been greatly affected by COVID-19.
