My students need a diverse classroom library for exposure to high-leveled reading at their reading level. Currently, our school does not have a library. All materials will ensure a productive classroom library.

My Students
According to the recent School Report Card provided by Chicago Public Schools, 98% of the students at my school receive Free/Reduced Lunch and reside in low-income households.
Students are working hard to improve Literacy test scores.
Students are tested in areas of Vocabulary and Comprehension. There are several interventions that students participate in to enrich their reading skills such as Small Groups and Saturday School.
My students love to read and learn new information. They utilize all resources that are given to them with appreciation and gratitude.
My Project
The creation of a 5th grade classroom library will be used by students at the 5th grade reading level at my school. The materials that have been selected are based on student interest, reading level and diversity subject. The materials chosen will allow my students the exposure of several genres and leveled reading material. Currently, my students do not have the advantage of a school library.
The completion of the classroom library will allow students to have daily subjection to reading materials outside of classroom exposure.
Students will use the books for pleasure as well as the completion of Independent work for classes.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
