My students need an electronic timer/scoreboard to see the amount of time they have jogged and the amount of time remaining in their daily jog, which can also be used as a scoreboard for games/activities.
My students are total super stars between ages 5 to 11 who come to PE class every day for 30 minutes ready to move and groove! For many of these students PE is their favorite time of the day. It's a full 30 minutes of moving, running, and getting the wiggles out from working hard in their classrooms. They love to play all kinds of games and activities and always come to PE ready for some fun and fitness! My goal is to get them moving, get their hearts pumping, and put smiles on their faces while having fun and working together with their classmates for success!
My Project
As a physical education teacher my goal is to get my students moving! Physically active kids are healthy kids, and healthy kids are happy kids! We always start PE class with a timed jog. The first few weeks of school we start with a short amount of time such as 30 seconds or one minute, depending on the age group. With each week we increase the amount of jogging time. I encourage my students to jog slowly and steadily, without walking if possible. The kids love this challenge, as the time increases a little each week, and work hard to succeed at this increasingly difficult task! The students always ask, "how much longer?" as they pass by me during their jog. I would love for them to be able to look at the display timer on the scoreboard and know exactly how much longer they have to push themselves to reach their goals!
