This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with scholars from diverse backgrounds. Over 75% of the population qualifies for free school meals.
Despite socioeconomic disadvantages, our melting pot of scholars possesses a positive outlook on learning.
Each child is unique and deserves quality resources and experiences that will shape their future. Being that we are a Title I school however, it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase materials and resources. Basic classroom supplies and technology are in high demand in our school and our students deserve to experience high-quality education and resources.
My Project
I am a 5th-grade teacher in a Title I school. I work in an ICT classroom that is full of diverse learners, some with special needs. All of our students have different learning styles.
Our classroom should reflect and support our diverse scholars.
With flexible seating, our furniture will also be diverse. If we are able to receive 4 swivel chairs, that will allow scholars to choose which seat represents them while at the computer station. Scholars will have options that will allow them to feel included and comfortable throughout the day. Our classroom will also look and feel brighter!
