Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I have 26 students of which 21 are all English Language Learners with 7 of them being newcomer students speaking little to no English. I am seeking out additional resources such as jump ropes that can help boost literacy when practicing their spelling words. I have many different types of learners in my class, some of which are kinesthetic learners and need to move their bodies to grasp new material.
Additionally I am seeking resources so I can continue to run my student store in my classroom.
The student store is done once a week where students can go cash in their earned tickets for prizes. I would love to be able to link this student store to kids who show growth and improvements not only in behavior but also for when they pass reading diagnostics through Iready and other platforms. Unfortunately since I supply the student store on my own, I am unable to expand it to other sectors in the classroom.
Additionally, our classroom needs a class laminator so we can preserve the hard work the students create and hang in our classroom. We also need a set of speakers that are compatible with our schools Chromebook so I can enhance my own teaching abilities in the classroom and that students can hear what is being projected.
I am confident with the help of our community these resources will make a strong impact.
