4th Graders Need to Understand the Importance of Enviromental Science
My students need 2 plant development kits in order to understand the process of germination and growth and, therfore, the importance of plants on enviromental science.
My students are creative, active, and have positive attitudes towards learning! Our class is a mixture of regular education and gifted students, most who have an interest in STEM based activities.
They enjoy learning and incorporating a variety of hands on STEM based activities to enhance their understanding of how the world works.
Each child brings a diverse background to the group. We are a school in a district that is economically disadvantaged with a very diverse group of students who truly enjoy coming to school every day.
My Project
Science has always been one of my favorite topics because studying plants can easily be hands-on. Looking at real life plants allows students to see, touch, and smell what they are learning about. Introducing enviromental science at an early age will impact the way that they think about the world and sustainability for the rest of their lives.
When students take part in their learning, such as planting the seeds, providing necessary care, and watching things grow, they become invested in the process.
These Carolina planting kits will provide hands on experience of the processes of the reproduction, growth and maturity of living things. They will learn the impacts of light, water and enviromental conditions on plant growth.
Every year I hear the 'oohs' and 'ahs' as students see the changes happening in front of them as the seeds begin to grow. Having the necessary tools and kits for each science class makes this learning process possible for each and every student
