My students need to acquire school supplies such as markers, index cards, and folders for next year, in a way that is MUCH more time-efficient, affordable, and equitable for their families.
Our 4th grade classes are supportive environments, where we foster inquiry based learning. We believe that all students should have equal opportunities to explore, build knowledge, and learn. In order to accomplish our goal of high-quality education and equitable access, we ask that all students have the same materials to learn and grow together.
As a learning community, we decided it is important for us to share all the supplies for our grade.
This teaches kids to have a sense of ownership over their community, and understand the power of supporting each other's learning.
PLEASE NOTE: This project will provide supplies for ALL 4th GRADERS, not just Ms. Sproul's students.
My Project
This project was created to give all children the tools to excel in our 4th grade learning community. By donating materials to our 4th grade classes, you help us ensure that every child begins the school year ready to learn, without the worry of acquiring personalized school supplies. This project provides convenience to families and students, and ensures that all kids will have exactly what they need throughout the school year. It also allows families to spend more time with their children throughout the summer instead of rushing around to find items on the class supply list!
With this project, ALL 140 4th graders will have school supplies for the entire year: notebooks, folders, paper, pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors, post-it’s, tissues, wipes, paper towels, soap, and everything else they need to be successful the entire year long.
These supplies are essential to their day-to-day learning. We 4th grade teachers strongly believe that this is the most equitable and efficient way to collect school supplies.
These materials will be used to engage in daily lessons in all content areas. By gathering our materials collectively, the kids and classrooms are able to receive more materials at a lower cost than purchasing them individually. It's a wonderful solution to an usually expensive, time-consuming, and inequitable task.
* Suggested Family Donation: We suggest that each 4th grade family donate $50-$60 per child, to cover their family's cost of supplies. This will ensure that you will NOT have to buy class supplies in the fall, except perhaps a few special personal items for your child if you wish. If you would like to donate more to sponsor another family, please feel free to do so.
