Florence K-8's goal is to build a future of success for all students. With knowledge and effort each student has potential to seize the path they desire. Our students are creative, bright, and energetic. The students in my 4th grade classes are eager to learn and explore solutions.
I have 80 amazing 4th grade artists!
This group of students make it fun to be an art teacher. They enter my classroom attentive and ready to create. Looking at their artwork, you can see joy, attentiveness, and possibilities.
My Project
Our school is transitioning to STEM: science, technology, entrepreneurship, and mastery. Academic growth centers around project-based learning. As an art teacher, I try to support what my students are learning in other subjects. I want my students to apply problem-solving skills they learn in the art to other academic areas and real-world situations.
Sewing cases for recorders they learn how to play in Music, not only teaches my 4th-grade students a life-long skill and how to show responsibility for possessions but also supports the curriculum in another school subject.
I want my students to learn how to thread a needle and create basic stitches so they can repair and maintain clothing and other items. Florence K-8 is a Title 1 school. The students in our school community live in low-income households. It is my goal that making these recorder cases, will help students take pride in their own efforts and encourage self-reliance.
