My Students

Hard work...works! My 27 4th graders are kind, bright and eager learners. I have a wide range of learning and economic needs and we're in this venture together. They know they can do hard things!

Students learn that little choices matter.

Real-life applications to lessons are key in my class - careers that use multiplication (Math), how often favorite authors were rejected (JK Rowling) yet persevered, the effects of invasive species/change (Science). They empathize with characters in books and Utah history. Each year my students are challenged to make their beds for a week after watching a favorite speech, surprising their parents and themselves with how choosing to make their bed can affect other areas of their lives.

My Project

If reading is FUN, I want my students to remember this FUN for years to come! By having upbeat reads for the first, 100th and last days of school, they are bound to travel back through time sitting with their 4th-grade friends wherever they end up in the world.

My students love class reads and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is a classic!

By utilizing a novel, again, this becomes a 4th-grade memory to focus on reading elements they don't even know they're learning because it's such a captivating adventure.

Social Studies is a favorite for many students. As we learn about our community and a Who's Who of Utah, students appreciate more their state history, heritage and qualities of those who have made a positive impact on our lives today.
