Mrs. Stampone from Buffalo NY is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need sketchbooks for class assignments and for brainstorming activities.

My students come from many different cultural backgrounds, and most are living in low income households. They are eager learners with high spirits and love the arts. Many kids have several siblings, cousins and grandparents that reside in the same home.
I teach kindergarten, second, fourth and seventh graders.
Each grade level has its own needs and topics to be covered for students to progress and move on to the next grade level. Our district does not have a large budget at all. Usually we receive enough funding to purchase some crayons and markers and a small amount of paper. Our kids go through these supplies quickly, and we often rely on donations and local organizations to help us meet their needs.
With your help, it is my hope that their art classroom can be filled with new materials for them to explore, exciting supplies and images to look at, and wonderful experiences that will make an impression on them. This is their only chance to establish a love for art, as it is no longer mandatory after they leave elementary school. Help spread the love!
My students love to draw, especially my fourth graders. Students come to class with lined paper in binders filled with drawings done at home. I would love to be able to give each child a sketchbook to use in class and to take home for homework when needed.
Brainstorming and getting your ideas onto paper is the most important part of art class.
Often times students throw away this scrap paper forgetting how their projects actually came to be. Eliminating the struggle and mistakes each student makes by throwing them away is detrimental to the idea of PROCESS based art. These sketchbooks will help students realize the importance of mistakes, the importance of the artistic process and most importantly, will allow them to see their own progress in art class.
