My Students

My school is a Title I school that falls within a very transient neighborhood. Many students come and go throughout the year and they struggle with the expectations for their new classroom. Many students also don't have access to different types of technology at home or within their homes. The school has 1 to 1 Chromebooks for use during school but they are restricted on what they are able to do on their Chromebooks during remote learning. As I am instructing, they are limited to what I am able to show them on a small whiteboard, rather than being able to model on a document camera to save time and provide more fluid instruction.

My Project

As the 4/5 split teacher, I have been using the free version of Nearpod - an interactive slide show tool that engages students and promotes group work - in our lessons. Students come in ready to learn when they know it's a Nearpod day. With the class sizes going past the maximum some students aren't able to join in with the free version

This resource can be used for technology, including virtual field trips and a variety of other exciting learning experiences.

With a platinum membership, I will have access to all Nearpod lessons without any additional cost. With this access, students will be able to interact with the lessons at their own pace and show what they have learned by completing activities. All students will be able to participate as well. This website will also link up with our new school learning management system which makes it easy for students to navigate.
