Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." Walt Disney Children are naturally curious creatures, and having access to projects where they can use 3-D printing will only rocket that curiosity to new heights.

My students are an enthusiastic group of 8 and 9 year-old children from a city in New Mexico.

Many of the students in this low-income school are the children of laborers and construction workers, and their parents see education as the means to a better life. The median household income in our town is around $25,000, and about 75% of the students in our school receive free lunch. Despite these challenges, my students are excited and fearless about learning new things, and I want to make sure I am tapping in to that excitement each day by providing them with engaging, challenging lessons that will prepare them for the future ahead.

My Project

The MakerBot 3-D printer will allow my students to experiment with S.T.E.M concepts in a fun and engaging way. Students will be able to take their ideas and understanding to new heights by creating models. Creativity will flourish when students can invent and design objects to help solve real-life problems. Can you imagine the power in allowing students to print their own math manipulatives and tools to strategically problem solve? The possibilities are endless when you combine curious students and 3-D printing capabilities!

Please help our class continue to build confidence and competence in the area of science, math and technology with this MakerBot 3-D printing bundle.

Building strong, curious scientific thinkers now could possibly provide students with the push they need to pursue higher-education that could end the cycle of poverty for them and their families.
