Flexible seating allows my students to take charge of their learning. During independent and group work times, students are able to choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables or sitting on the floor. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.
Students are more motivated when they are able to make choices of where to sit.
It also allows some of my students who are in the back of the room to come closer to the board.
These seating arrangements will play a pivotal role during our small group activities. By investing in flexible seating, donors are helping us create an inclusive and adaptable learning environment that caters to various learning styles and sensory preferences. With the added support provided during small group time, students will be guided in selecting seating options that optimize their engagement and comfort. This personalized approach ensures that the benefits of flexible seating translate into improved focus, participation, and overall success, ultimately enhancing the educational experience for all students involved.
