I teach in a co-taught personalized learning classroom. Between my teaching partner and I, we have 50-53 students each school year. We look into giving our students more options in their learning. Students learn in many different ways, and we try to encourage each student to find their strengths and use them to help their learning process.
We seek out new ideas to help students flourish in their learning environment.
We offer different types of seating and engaging learning techniques. A lot of this is done through project based learning. Students create and design projects to help them learn and present their work. Students also move at their own pace. Students can move forward with academics as they are ready to take on new challenges.
We also help students learn time management skills and collaborative group work. These are skills that are needed well into adulthood and we are taking steps now to help students learn to work together and budget their time well.
My Project
Our students have developed a love of reading through participating in student-led book clubs. We use this time to dive into great books based on student interest. Students read, discuss, create and establish a love for reading. They work together to review skills such as character traits, summarizing, inferring and more!
The books students choose to read take them on wild adventures and help to instill a passion for lifelong reading.
The students don't even realize learning is taking place because they become invested in the stories of these fabulous books. Your donation will help our students become good readers who are able to dig more deeply into books based on their interest in order to develop a true love for reading throughout the rest of their lives.
