3rd Grade Problem Solvers

Help me give my students a chance to show what they know during social distancing. We are in need of personal dry erase boards and markers specifically made to enhance each student's mathematical experience.

My Students

Many of my students come to 3rd grade lacking specific math skills. This is partly due to life circumstances beyond their control. Many are impacted by poverty and language barriers. ALL 3rd-grade students receive free lunch. One-third of them are ELL learners.

I teach in a low-income school district with a very diverse population.

This year, I would like to continue using my class as a Math Workshop. I anticipate being able to deliver a more effective curriculum to students. While some students are using Chromebooks to access our online math curriculum at their ability level, I will be able to check the understanding of other students by checking their white boards as they hold them up after a SHOWDOWN.

Third grade students can further close their achievement gaps if they continue to learn using various resources that are interesting, engaging, and interactive. They love using white boards!

My Project

Since COVID-19, we have been forced to use technology and limit the use of paper and pencil. Third graders like to write and need to solve problems to become better at crafting their math skills. It is essential that each of my scholars have a dry erase board and several dry erase markers to enhance their mathematical experience.

Due to social distancing constraints, students have limited opportunities to have fun while working out their math problems.

During this time, my 3rd grade scholars are not allowed to share anything. Any item that they use is for use solely by individual students. We are in need of enough white boards so each student can have their very own.

After working out their problems, students can hold up their board so that I can complete a quick check for understanding and be able to determine which students need additional assistance.
