This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a first-year teacher for third grade students at a local charter school. We do not have a school library so it is important to build a classroom library for my students. The chairs, rug, bookshelves, and decor will all come together to create an empowering space for my third graders to explore the books they enjoy the most.

Research has shown that the ability of children to read on grade level by the end of third grade is a key indicator for school success and high school graduation!

This is why it is so important for me to be able to provide an inviting space for my third grade students to fall in love with reading.
