My students need engaging and interactive read aloud books to help teach a variety of reading skills and strategies that will help create a love of reading!
I am embarking on a new journey as a 3rd grade ELA teacher for the 2017-2018 school year! I will be moving from 1st grade to 3rd grade so I will be making some adjustments. I am very excited to work with this new group of students and help them to become just as excited and curious about reading as I am! This is something I hope to instill in each of the students I encounter on my new journey as a 3rd grade reading teacher.
I teach at a low-income/high poverty school district, where many of my students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom.
I want to give my students an experience to find the joy and adventure in reading that I know can be achieved in our classroom! They deserve to have the best and that is what I want to provide for each and every single one of my little kiddos when they enter my room this coming August!
My Project
These read aloud books have been selected very carefully for my classroom. They will help my students become engaged in reading and foster learning. Each of these chosen books is filled with many lessons such as teaching the craft and structure of a text, incorporating writing skills, inferring, key ideas, details, questions, comprehension, and making connections. Having these books in our classroom will help to create a library of learning for my students! Each book that has been selected focuses of certain strategies and skills to teach my kiddos!
A goal of this first year in 3rd grade is to make reading fun, engaging, adventurous, and exciting to each and every single student that I have the pleasure of working with!!
These special read aloud books will have a lifetime home in our classroom for many years to come!
