Help me give my students air fresheners, door mats, pencil holders, pillows, whiteboard and chalkboard contact paper to help make the trailers more comfortable.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of 3rd graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges, and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscle. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
The upcoming school year is certain to be full of excitement and fun. Third grade is always year full of student change and new experiences. Well this year has an added bonus, we are moving out into the trailers.
In preparing I want to help make sure that the students' learning space has a warm and cozy feeling, not missing the small touches that would be given having a classroom in the building.
With a lack of cubby storage comes more book shelves and metal cabinets. With the use of contact paper this can covered and turned into spaces that teacher/students can write on throughout the learning day. All weather mats as important especially during rainy days. Coming in and out from the main building will tract dirt and rain that we would want to absorb as quickly as possible. The use the air fresheners will help keep our trailers smelling fresh and rid our classroom of that small container smell.
Lastly, small added touches such as pillows for reading spaces, a pencil sharpener, and pencil holder are items for students to have for their use throughout the day.
The environment that students are in has a great impact on their learning. I want to help create a space where students are comfortable in their classroom; not feeling they are lacking because they are not in the school building.
