Do you know what it feels like when you're "in the zone?" You're completely immersed in your work, motivated, and able to block out any distractions. My 3rd graders are working on the habit of getting "in the zone," but they need a little help.
I teach the best 3rd graders in Baltimore City.
We work together at one of Baltimore's public turnaround schools. Many of them come from extremely challenging backgrounds, but at only 8 and 9 years old, they are already beginning to understand the transformative power of education.
My Project
I am requesting 60, individual, privacy partitions. These privacy partitions will accomplish a number of goals. First, students will each have their own, so they can post notes and process charts on each wall, and have helpful skill reminders only a glance away. Second, they will be used to block out distractions so that my young students are more easily able to get "in the zone" during assessments and independent work.
These 3rd graders have all the potential in the world.
If they learn good work habits now, then, they will be able to accomplish anything they put their minds to in the future. Please help put these 3rd graders in the learning zone!
