This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Working in a small urban school in Salem, MA, I have been blessed with the most hard-working, diverse, and down-right amazing students in the world. Working on the 3rd grade team, my friend and co-grade-teacher and I have decided to launch this project for our students. I have 17 students who come from a multitude of different backgrounds and introduce me to their lives and stories daily. For a lot of my students, school is a safe place and a constant that they may lack in their personal lives. I started this Social Emotional Resources Project for my students for a multitude of reasons. To start, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, so many students are struggling with being able to appropriately articulate how they are feeling. In the last few years, I have seen an increase in anxieties and other behavioral factors that are contributing to students' loss in learning. With this project, I am hoping to add tools within our classroom to aid in some of these struggles I see daily. I want to see my students thrive and grow in their educational careers and students cannot do that, without the proper social emotional tools.
