My Students
Picture books fill every classroom across America. The artwork and illustrations in children's books create a love and understanding of literature. My students would love to work on their own picture books and create their own artistic illustrations.
I teach a wonderful group of third graders that love to come to school each day.
They are motivated to learn, and strive to do their best academically. They come from multicultural households and very diverse backgrounds.
My students love to use markers and crayons during lunchtime. They love to draw, sketch, and create art in their spare time. They truly are future artists and storytellers. I hope to bring this love of art into the classroom, and inspire them to create beautiful stories!
My Project
I am requesting a class set of watercolor paints, and construction paper as the basis of our literary stories. Students will draft and sketch their ideas on paper. Using the requested iPad mini and stylus, students will then be able to use digital media to transfer their art online.
Using storytelling and drawing applications, my students will be able to express their artistic side with illustrations and words. They will be writing realistic fictional, fairy tales, mysteries, and narrative stories using the iPad's technology. As a culminating activity students will then be able to share all they have creating during a Publishing Party. Parents and other administrators will all be invited to see the wonderful stories and artwork my students have created.
This project is so important to me because every child should have the opportunity to create beautiful stories, and artwork to go with them.
I can't wait to see my students' faces light up while they are creating such beautiful pieces.
