Our school is a beacon of hope for many at-risk students who have a hard time finding their place in a regular school setting. We cater to those individual students, and, in many instances, we become that one constant thing they can depend on.
Many of our students struggle daily with decisions most of us don't make till we are in our thirties.
They long for someone to care for them and remind them that they can achieve anything they put their mind to. They long to be accepted, to experience things they never thought possible and to be a part of a whole. Once given the chance to excel, a spark ignites, lighting a fire of creativity and curiosity that can only be extinguished by the limitations of our facility.
I would love to be able to give all my students the chance to experiment with current technology, to create amazing digital portfolios and to savor the freedom of expression they can create with a simple brush stroke. I am hopeful that, with the right tools, I can inspire the artists of tomorrow!
My Project
These supplies will help my students better understand the function of art in a career perspective. It will teach them how technology and the arts can be used together to create new and innovative ideas.
Resin has been a famous medium used in construction, carpentry and vehicles; my goal is to help students realize that mediums can be versatile.
We will be creating objects using resin molds that will focus on the student’s identity. This tool will also be used cross curricular to help students build cognitively.
3D pens are a great way to introduce 3D printing, my classroom has a 3D printer but it is sometimes difficult and a steep hill to get my students to take a leap into using them. The 3D pens will help soften the blow and help them understand how 3D printing is a tool not only for art, but for many other careers.
