3D Science!

My students need 3Doodler pens and filaments to create science concepts.

My Students

Doodling Power! Imagine a classroom where students do NOT use flat paper but instead use technology to create 3D shapes that can be designed and used in experiments of the future. Our Green classroom will help the students grow as global citizens and help improve our environment while learning.

Envision the classroom of the future where students create their own learning experiences.

My 6th-grade science classes are part of a public school in a growing suburban town in New Hampshire. Middle school students learn more by doing than reading and science class is the perfect place to make discoveries. As the new national science standards are implemented, the focus is to develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) lessons. They love to make connections to real world problems. Instead of hearing "why do we need to learn this?", I get students who can't wait to do things like forensics or other explorations. Our students are digital natives and expect to use technology in the classroom so that they are part of the 21st century.

My Project

Art and Science go together and complement each other. Imagine students creating a project that might need special parts that they have designed and then send it to the 3D printer to create it. Sometimes we just need to add smaller items in a customized way. Students get to doodle! This is a handheld tool completely controlled by hand. As they doodle freely, they are creating their perfect object. In Chemistry units the students need to build their own atoms and molecules. While any medium can be used, students will be able to sign out a 3Doodler pen to complete the homework assignment designing their atom in 3D. Some students also like to help design my bulletin boards. The 3D version makes them stand out. In the past we have done phases of the moon or different shape landforms. By creating the models correctly, the concepts are reinforced in the student brain. These 3Doodler pens bring the future into the classroom while empowering students through art using 3D creations.

You can change their world!

Modelling is an additional skill to the new Next Generation Science Standards. Think about how cool it will be when they make models of atoms using a 3Doodler pen. This will help with different learning styles as well.

Your generous donation will inspire my students. They will excitedly look forward to each time they can use the 3Doodler. They will start learning simple skills which will parlay into common everyday skills of the future. They will be ready for the 21st century and thankfully know that your generosity sparked their discoveries.
