3d Printing Provides Opportunities to Be Creative and Innovative!

My Project

Most of us know what 3D printing is, but have a limited understanding. We may have seen something printed, and we have probably held the final product. For many of us, this is unfortunately the limit of our knowledge. We know what it is, but we don't know how the 3D printing process actually works.

I am excited to see 3D printing become available to Almira's staff and students!

As we are just starting this adventure, I selected the most basic filament colors--black, white, and green (our school color). Not only will be I be using these filaments with my students, but they will be available to the other grade levels, as teachers plan projects to use in their classes.

You may have noticed that there is a glow-in-the-dark filament that is also on my wish list. I have a few curriculum-based projects in mind, but that filament is reserved for a special middle school project that I am very excited about! Many of our middle schoolers are going on a camping trip this spring. I am allowing those students to design and print their own glow sticks to take on the trip.

As my students begin to work on any of their projects, they will be challenged creatively in many new ways. They will be finding themselves having to think outside the box and use their problem solving skills. 3D printing provides a great opportunity to be creative and innovative!
