Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My district introduced a new program this year that gave my school an exciting opportunity to become one of the first to welcome this unique program into our community. Our program provides under-credited high school students with the opportunity to earn credits in a way that best fits their needs.

This program provides a very special opportunity for disengaged students by helping them reconnect with a school community.

Through our innovative Project-Based Learning curriculum, students have voice and choice throughout their modules. PBL curriculum not only provides students with the chance to feel proud about their work but also opens the door for social-emotional learning that they can use both inside and outside of the classroom.

Many students in our program have difficulties at home and this program creates a safe space for them to become successful.

Students in our program often feel misunderstood, but with our inclusive community, the same students are now taking pride in their work, their individuality, and their future.

My Project

Our students will be using the vibrant filament in our new 3D printer. The various filament fillings will provide students will the opportunity to create manipulatives that are individualized to their own interests.

This filament will give our students the opportunity to engage in their work independently, in pairs, and in a whole class setting, which is rare.

Our 3D printer has peaked the interest of our entire program, giving our students the chance to feel excited about their school work again.

The various filaments will provide students the opportunity to learn in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. This cross disciplinary task can open the doors for students, both inside and out of the classroom.
