My Students

My school is racially, ethnically and economically diverse. Our model of teaching is connected with EL Education (Expeditionary Learning). This means that staff within grade level teams and across the grades create Learning Expeditions that integrate content from different courses. We often have students collaborate across grade levels as well.

Many of my students are first or second generation immigrants from around the world.

This is why developing 21st century skills is so important to my students' future success. Having this experience and expertise will equip them for the world of college, career and citizenship.

My Project

I currently teach three sections of an Introduction to Engineering Course. During a unit on 3D design every student produces a 3D printed project. It is very challenging to be able to print all of their projects on the four printers that I currently have in my classroom.

Purchasing two FlashForge Finder 3D printers and rolling carts will allow me to easily move 3D printers within the classroom for better and access to produce their 3D design projects.

Gaining two additional printers will allow me to print 33% more projects than I can currently produce.

This increased printing capacity will allow me to be able to print and return student projects to them in a more reasonable time frame. Having their designs move from the computer model to one that they can touch quickly motivates students to create cool designs.

Having the 3D printers on carts will also allow me to move the printers to other classrooms so that the technology can be shared more broadly across my school.
