Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom was recently gifted a 3D printer! However, we don’t have any materials to actually use it. My students love STEM and already have a list of projects to build, so we are asking for the filament. With your support, my students will be able to design, build, and print models that connect directly our learning.

Here are just a few projects 3D printing will bring to life:

Engineering and Design: Students will use the engineering design process to create solutions to real-world problems designing earthquake-resistant buildings, creating tools, or building simple machines.

Earth Science Models: Students will print landforms, tectonic plates, or the water cycle components to explore geology in an interactive way.

Math: Students will apply geometry concepts by measuring dimensions and creating 3D models. They will calculate volume and surface area of the objects they design, using mathematical formulas to ensure accuracy in their prints.

Social Studies: Students will study Native American tribes, their traditions, and their artifacts. They will research the cultural significance of items such as pottery, weavings, or tools, and create 3D models to represent their findings, deepening their understanding of the diverse Native American heritage.

STEM Exploration: Students will explore careers in engineering, medicine, and design while building spatial reasoning and 21st-century skills.

These experiences foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, while also helping students see themselves as scientists, engineers, historians, and makers.
