3D Printing History Artifacts

Help me give my students an exciting new experience and help them create an authentic archeological dig that will help them understand the importance of finding pieces from a time period.

My Project

We are at it again. This time we needed to expand out reach and my history classes are not going to create and archeological dig, using the 3D printings of artifacts they thing would have been found during the time period. Each group of students will work together to and come up with a list of things you might find during and archeological dig in Rome. They will then identify, through research what it is and how it related to the empire; what it may have looked like, its color, size and shapes. Each group will be assigned to a printer and work on printing their artifacts out. The filament will be assigned to the artifact and it should represent what the artifact may have looked like during its time period.

My students and I have already started to uncover some of the elements of Roman life and are very excited to learn and use something new like the 3D printer in the class room.

I choose the small printers because they will aid in the students learning u close and personal as well as to accompany they larger ones we have in our school library. This project should take a couple weeks and hopefully learn to other students and activities during up coming lesson in class.

I was so excited to learn more about using 3D printers in the class from a previous project I did but found more in-depth activities after a webinar through the ACRE project I am part of. I just knew I had to try this activity. The carpet maker and yarn are also to enhance the exploration of different artifacts that may have been found during the Roman Empire.
