Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our high school is a small school in a very rural area of Merced County in California. Our student body is largely (98%) comprised of Hispanic students from low-income households (95% receive free or reduced-price lunch) and we are in the early stages of developing both strong CTE and College Prep Computer Science programs.
Our kids are inquisitive and hard-working and are ready to take up any challenge; we just need the resources to help us provide the tools they need.
My Project
Our school is in an Ag heavy area where the ability to craft custom physical solutions to the often unique problems that come up in our community is in high demand.
We are developing a modified Makers Space-type classroom environment where students will be able to use their learning in programs like AutoCAD to design and then produce real world objects with practical applications.
Your contribution will go a long way towards the creation of a facility within our school where our students can apply their knowledge to projects which can facilitate career ready skills.
