This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students thrive on hands-on experiences. In Engineering and Robotics they design and build projects from nothing and watch them come to life just as professional engineers do. My biggest challenge is getting them to see the value of CAD. A 3D printer makes this experience come to life.

My students are enthusiastic kid ranging from 9th through 12th grade.

They are dedicated to our school and projects and spend countless hours after school working on projects so build their knowledge base. Our school is in a low income but high pride area. They want the same experiences as students all over and are willing to commit time and energy to getting it.

My Project

A 3D printer helps bring engineering and CAD to life. Drawing items on CAD software is great but seeing it fabricated and put to use on their projects is what truly makes them understand what it means to be an engineer. This will allow them to create custom parts on the fly and implement them to see how rapid prototyping can benefit the world of engineering.

This will help students see one more aspect of technology.

3D replication is the future of invention and putting this in their hands and in front of their eyes will help give them a leg up as they look to compete for a higher education and jobs.
