My students are so excited to start getting hands-on STEAM experiences in our new Innovation Lab. We will delve into 3D printing, robotics, and programming, as well as many other hands-on projects. It is so fun to watch their faces light up when they see the results of their own creations.
The students are curious and creative, imaginative and innovative.
I love hearing their new ideas. We are a diverse school with many cultures and languages, and STEAM experiences are great at bringing everyone together for a common goal.
My Project
Our school recently got a new 3D printer and the students couldn’t be more excited to create! So far we have been using the printer to tie into our core curriculum to create holiday snowmen, nametag keychains, and Greek shields. However, my students would like to be more creative with their designs and expand into digital arts.
The 3D printing filament and iPads will allow students to learn graphic design and bring imagination, color and personality to our 3D printed projects.
The iPads will be used for graphic design lessons which can be transferred to 3D print files. The students will be able to not only learn digital graphic design skills, but see those creations come to life with the 3D printer. We will be making jewelry, flower vases, wall decorations, and so much more! The students are already brainstorming gift ideas for their friends and family.
