Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Introducing a 3D printer into my 5th and 6th-grade classroom would revolutionize how students engage with mathematics, mainly by designing and selecting personalized rewards. This technology transforms abstract mathematical concepts into tangible, customized objects, significantly enhancing student motivation and understanding. Imagine students mastering complex geometry and designing their 3D-printed geometric models as a reward, or creating personalized math manipulatives catering to their learning styles. This hands-on approach deepens their comprehension and fosters a sense of ownership over their learning.

The ability to design and choose rewards empowers students, shifting them from passive recipients to active creators.

This autonomy boosts intrinsic motivation, encouraging them to tackle challenging math problems more enthusiastically. By designing rewards that reflect their interests and achievements, students develop a stronger connection to the subject matter.

Furthermore, a 3D printer provides invaluable opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. Students can explore design principles, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills while reinforcing their mathematical knowledge. This technology bridges the gap between theoretical math and practical application, creating a dynamic, engaging learning environment that sparks curiosity and inspires students to excel.
