My Students

Within the NYC Public school system is District 75. District 75 houses the highest needs special needs students and oftentimes, these students also fall into the highest needs economically disadvantaged category. Over 90% of my students fall into this category. We are a 12-month program, where students attend year-round to receive services.

My students are part of the largest school district in the country (the NYC DOE) and fall into the highest needs category.

For years, I have poured my own money into my classroom, but it is not enough! I have reached out to local community members and collected used and refurbished computers, but they do not meet the requirements to run modern software.

I teach grades K-8 and a total of 9 classes, a daily lunch club and a weekly positive behavior intervention club as a reward for students. All students would have access to these resources! That is why today, I am reaching out for global support to help our highest needs students get an equal chance to succeed! We truly need your assistance to level the playing field. Many students come from homes that do not have Internet access or technology, further increasing the achievement gap.

My Project

I am always trying to think of new ways to engage my students, to bring education to life and to teach social emotional skills through instructional technology. I work with a population of students with multiple, severe disabilities. The #1 skill I strive to teach is empathy. Last school year, I began designing 3D printed prosthetic hands with my students for children in need. It was a huge success! This year, I am trying to introduce teaching anything video-related through 3D and designing 3D videos with my older students!

The same way most students prefer an e-book to a regular book, doing anything on a screen versus paper, I think this will be an excellent way to engage students and get them excited about learning!

I have a very strong feeling that my students will be captivated by watching a video in 3D. It will be like going to an IMAX 3D movie. The kicker is: they will be learning about the given topic of study!

I plan on teaching my youngest students about compassion and empathy through studying animals. Together, we will create STEM projects and display them on the 3D projector where students will be able to watch each other's work. Going forward, the GooDee DLP Link 3D Glasses will grant countless students unique opportunities to learn in a whole new way! Without the 3D glasses, the projector is simply a regular classroom projector. The glasses will bring the projector and my students' learning to life!

Thank you so much for your support and for helping bring a love of learning to my students! #TechForGood
