Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is an inner city school with more than 50% of students qualifying for free or reduced price lunch. In our 2nd grade classroom, half of the students are considered to be English language learners or students with learning disabilities.
My students are enthusiastic, energetic 2nd graders who love to learn.
I am truly amazed and inspired by these thoughtful learners who come to school each day with a huge smile, an open mind, and an expectation that something truly wonderful will happen! I am blessed to be an ambassador of their learning!
My Project
Second grade is about discovery through exploration! A document camera would provide my students with visual and kinesthetic (manipulation of materials) methods of learning. It would provide "larger than life" lessons, whether projecting student work to celebrate or discovering the stripes on a caterpillar during a science lesson. In addition, the ability to record and replay these valuable lessons ensures all students, regardless of ability, will have access to learning--at their individual pace.

Were you the shortest student stuck in the back? The shy student afraid to push forward? Did you need glasses but couldn't afford them--making demonstrations difficult to see? A document camera will alleviate every one of these common barriers to learning! Second grade students are in awe of the world around them. A document camera serves as a valuable tool to bring their curiosity into focus! Thank you.
